filial piety: waiting to eat
The class was tasked with taking 10-12 photos that conveyed two words.
I chose food and waiting.
This series of photos is a representation of a dining custom in traditional Korean families, where the eldest member of the family eats first. These photos were taken from my perspective as the youngest member of the family;
I wait for my parents to eat while a delicious spread is laid out before me.
I was inspired by the movie Parasite by Bong Joon Ho and his cinematography.
The editing style is reminiscent of the dark and dreamy ambience of the film.
I did this to capture the dizzy feeling of my hunger and the somber feeling of being constricted in Korean traditions and rules.
Thank you !
